The problem is, a lot of abridgers do that instead of trying to make fun of the actual scenes they are parodying. Most people who watch shit like TFS and LK will watch new parodies and be confused that there aren't references or memes.

Remember when TFS had the "Are you a Yoshi?" line? It was funny because both Piccolo and Yoshi are green.
Or that time they turned Nappa into a ghost (with a Ghostbusters reference, obviously).

It wasn't overly thought out, but when it became reference after reference, or in LK's sense when he started shitting on the fans, then it became shitty.

Once they got it into their heads that they could make a job out of this, it went downhill.

Also it's funny now that the Code Geass Soup guy made a new Code Ment episode and everyone is shitting on it because it uses AI and they are finally realizing the fucker was never funny.
