The reason I'm tempted to buy a gold Rolex at some point. It's neither as practical as a steel one and doesn't even look as good, nor is it an actual classy and exclusive time piece like a Patek Philippe or a Jaeger-LeCoultre. But people that matter just the slightest bit and think they are doing well? Those that can barely afford their BMW and think themselves on the up and coming because they are a step above the total low-lifes? Yeah, they notice.
