• they want to flaunt their cultured, cosmopolitan lifestyle
• living in a big city proves that they've "made it"
• they probably feel "safer" because urban areas tend to vote more blue
• big cities likely have a better and more varied food delivery infrastructure, which lets them live their "glamorous" life without having to actually go outside (and get mugged)
• soulless apartment complexes in big cities tend to be more anonymous, so they are likely seen as less weird for refusing to interact with their neighbors
• probably also some delusions about having an easier time kickstarting their "acting career" there
