Totally forgot to give my very important 2 cents on a quote block, so here goes:

Comes to the most stupid conclusions possible (As seen with his Akira "Review" where he wrongfully takes the Amoebas allegory literally Beliving it was to explain how how Tetsuo Gets his powers, and that it was simply a comparison, and isn't part of the lore goes completely over his head)

CA alumni talking about 2D animation have some of the weirdest takes. Failus for example keeps repeating how Disney's Aladdin is even superior to the original story, because his Lupa-lusting mind can't make sense out of a story where there are two genies.

I have never read the collection of folk tales, but the wikipedia summary doesn't sound too promising...

The sorcerer's more powerful and evil brother plots to destroy Aladdin for killing his brother by disguising himself as an old woman known for her healing powers. Badroulbadour falls for his disguise and commands the "woman" to stay in her palace in case of any illnesses. Aladdin is warned of this danger by the genie of the lamp and slays the impostor.

I think I'll stick to the whacky comedy of Robin Williams.

Not sure how many adaptations actually go past the first evil guy.
Failus' main source of confusing is with that first bloke, mainly because he can't wrap his head around him wanting a genie in a lamp when he already had one in a ring (he didn't know about the ring's true power, and the one in the lamp had a higher power level anyways, as evidenced by the ring one being unable to undo the other bloke's wishes, which was mainly a plot device to get Aladdin to do shit instead of having a weird wish-off with the bad guy).
