Why would anyone move to Illinois willingly? The state tax sucks and the gang violence is horrid

I think. An old Simpsons DVD commentary said that's the reason Springfield is named what it is, because it was the most common name for a city in the US (the commentary then states that it was actually Riverside.) But Bradley was from Illinois Springfield.

Springfield and Chicago are both in Illinois. Brad just needed to move to the city where the rent and crime rates are ten times higher.

You can literally do these internet videos anywhere; they are not dependant on geographical location. I would've thought most of these nobody assholes would've moved to a state with no state income tax. But no, instead they flock to Cali and Illinois.
Spoony used to live in Arizona, which had a state tax at around 2.5%. Illinois is double that. Why the hell would anyone who does anything that can be considered a 'small business' move to a high tax state?
