In most places, it is not useful. I'm sure Ireland is one of those places. I certainly could never find work with my BA in Japanese. He would almost certainly have to move somewhere like a big UK city, or try working in Japan, which is not so easy to do now that there are hundreds of thousands of weeaboos that want to live in their fantasy Animeland.
