Kevin Smith was only amusing when he was young and fat. Now he's just an old tired whore who's been used and abused by every big money conglomerate on the planet. And he knows if he ever met his younger self is, the "rebel" would jump on selling out in a heartbeat.
He's desperately trying to convince his daughter that he's a cool dad by making movies and being relevant. Meanwhile everyone looks like they've been awkwardly invited to a 20th year reunion and just playing along until they can make bank and leave.
The fact that Brad copies more and more of Kevin's look (including the cancer-patient malnourished body and face), is all you need to know.
