This is not exactly rocket science: Phelous is the modern cucked guy that found a comfort zone and Lupa is the modern liberated woman, thinking she deserves better but not bothering to risk it.

If you have any friends that fall into this category, you can see the signs right away. They don't share hobbies, vacations or time alone (videos for the internet take into account the 50k odd followers they have). And when they are forced to be alone, you would see them, each in one corner of the room with a phone in their hands.

Shit, even the Virginia Woolf marriage at least had some passion, this is the anti-relationship: instead of balancing individual lives plus a common one, they play pretend at being a couple while each one more isolated than the other. I would go on a rant about western civ now but you get the idea. Blame, partly, the boomer parents that raised them to be shit.
