Yeah, that's about when I dropped out too. After that one I was like "All that build up for... that. Wow." Though I guess the last thing I watched was technically the movie so you could say that's when I officially dropped out.

Bolded part is what ruined the whole thing for me. I always got annoyed toward the end of his "arcs" when it started taking up so much runtime, but I always kinda told myself that it was at least somewhat self-aware in it silliness. Like... casting a spell that turns toys into what they were designed after? Fine. One-man operation working out of an apartment. I can accept that... but you have to know that that's dumb, and you have to have fun with it. I think he had a few moments he intended as introspective, asking his fucking robots "Why are our lives like this? I'm supposed to just be a comic reviewer; why am I fighting to save the universe?" or some grandiose tidal wave of bullshit like that. If he ever played scenes like that for comedy, taking the piss out of the inherent ridiculousness of it, that might have worked better. Might have even been charming in a "doing what I can with what I got" kind of way. But no. Never. It was always wall-to-wall melodrama, treating the whole thing as deadly serious.
