I've never understood how Pat made his living off videos. He's only fractionally as popular as most of the guys who are considered his contemporaries. Were those websites he was a part of really big back in the day or something? All of his big youtube videos are bullshitty. Almost all of them are featuring or talking about AVGN. The only other ones are clickbaiting deadpool and a NWC video. The CU Podcast and Flea Market madness don't do that great and I'm assuming he's having to split money on those too.

Yeah for some strange reason podcasts pay really well, and since he got in early with a retro game podcast its held as some sort of merit. He also gets sponsorships from 6 year old flea market footage that was just shit leftover he throws together for a quick buck.

He was featured in a "History of video games" special issue from Retro Gamer. Saw it at the bookstore yesterday. That book he put out has gaming journos treating him like an authority on games.

The ONLY reason I had even seen him before was that he appeared on some shitty crossover with Spoony on some gay-ass Highlander film 'review'. Or was it a Highlander show? Whatever. At least I think that's where I've seen him. He was highly annoying then and I couldn't stand it.

No, but not for a lack of trying. None of those groups ever really accepted him, he was always that guy at the party who no one liked and wondered "why he fuck is he here?".

Even though I never cared for his reviews I was into the podcast for a time because quite frankly ever other gaming podcast I tried to find sucked complete balls. They were all shilling AAA garbage and were gaming versions of The Nerd Crew, oddly enough when they shilled for Diablo Immortal they became what they stood out from, though I stopped giving a shit about them by then.

Seriously, gaming podcasts for some reason are all complete cancer, it's always done by people who are not suited to podcasting at all. For pretty much every other hobby I have I can find at least one that's good but nothing for gaming. It's the only reason Pat has found success with it, he is sadly the best gaming podcast out there because the bar is that damn low.

The scary thing is Pat's was better than his because at least Pat and Ian could stay on topic. That and it suffered from the same problem Lordkat had where the other guests were boring asskissers compared to the main host, Ian actually challenges Pat sometimes.

ACG's podcast had the same problem, his other guests were these boring as fuck nobodies. He may as well have done it solo.

It's the one thing none of these gaming YouTubers can't get right, Pat is very lucky everyone else is incompetent.
