A lot of carnival food here is like putting a hat on a hat. She probably had a warm mulled cider, so instead of just having that, the makers added a donut and whipped cream. Carnivals do this sort of stuff too...deep fried twinkies and such.

Any cider here in the US that has alcohol must be labeled as a "hard" cider. At least that's how I understand it. But most of what's sold as a hard cider is light amber colored and carbonated.

Most people refer to alcoholic cider as "hard cider" to distinguish it from the more common "soft" cider. I don't know about the nomenclature on the cans/bottles because I never drank hard cider, the sugar would get me sicker quicker.
