This goes especially when it's something like tinnitus that's one of those "basically fucking nothing actually works" things.

I watched a doctor talk about the Adam Ruins Everything episode about hospitals and he took a short detour to talk about why doctors don't just prescribe random stuff whenever you want them to and it's equal parts, "we don't want to create super diseases," and, "we don't want to be sued."

If it isn't going to cause you to go deaf then they'll do the bare minimum until it gets worse.

Shrinks sell pills, dentists sell crazy expensive electric toothbrushes and water picks.
You'd think an ENT or Audiologist could sell a white noise device or a CD with noise masking sounds/music.
There are hearing aids out there that have masking tones, but they won't sell me one because I don't have any hearing loss associated with this. (Audiology tested my hearing as perfectly normal.)

You'd think these doctors would have gadgets to sell you to help with the sound masking, even if they didn't work, but they don't.
So every faggot that bought one would come back and complain endlessly, or get sued, because the gimmick for this non-curable state didn't do the trick? Fuck that! Go have fun with your beeping, nigga. When you don't absolutely have something that works you're better off just keeping out of that.
Be honest, you would've come back to complain it didn't work when it didn't so shit, wouldn't you? There's your reason why they rather just tell you to fuck off and deal with it.

So I've seen half a dozen doctors about my tinnitus problem. And got a half-dozen different prognoses.
Everything from "It will probably go away" to "It will be like this forever. Have a nice life."
Yep, I'm familiar with that kind of diagnosis. "Yeah, you're in pain all the time. Have a fun time with that. Buh bye!"

You're probably going to have to get used to a lot of experimentation to find what works for you. Support networks/forums specifically for Tinnitus are probably helpful and I know you said you used some of those. Hopefully you've been able to find some air cleaner/AC/radio type shit that you can run in the background for at least part of your day that cuts out most or all of the noise.

Everyone is different, and doctors these days mostly focus on life-threatening or publicized diseases over chronic ones which are distressing or painful but not life-threatening. I recently had the experience of going to a specialist and even then was pretty much told "here's this one option you're already using (that isn't working much) and that's about it, GG have fun."

A lot of medicine is only catered to help if it's some life threatening thing, if it's just "annoying" doctors just tend to shrug and tell you to stop being a bitch.

Yeah, medicine seems a lot like the weather. You can tune in at 5 different times and hear 5 different things.

It does seem like it is slowly getting better sometimes. Next thing to try is biofeedback therapy next month.
